About Tamea
Fitted for life
For more than 25 years, I have been designing clothes for women who want to feel comfortable in their bodies and intentional in how they dress.
Tamea Clothing evolved from a simple idea: I didn't believe women should have to choose between clothes that felt good and clothes they felt good in.
Bodies change. Lives change. Our days rarely fit neatly into one category. We work, travel, meet friends, look after families, go out for dinner, sit for long hours, move our bodies and sometimes simply want to get dressed without having to think too hard about it.
I wanted to make clothes that could move through all of that with us.

It began at the cutting table
I have always approached clothing from the garment itself.
Pattern, proportion, fabric, drape, movement and fit all matter to me. I understand clothes from the inside out because I have spent years pattern making, cutting, sampling, sewing and refining them.
Soft stretch jersey soon became an important part of the Tamea story.
It moves.
It drapes.
It travels beautifully.
And it becomes effortless to wear.
Most importantly, it gives a woman's body room to be a woman's body.
Comfort doesn't have to mean oversized, shapeless or overly casual. To me, good design is about knowing where a garment needs structure, where it needs softness and where it simply needs to get out of the woman's way.

More than 25 years of listening to women
But some of the most important things I know about clothing weren't learned in a classroom or at the cutting table.
They came from women.
For many years I sold Tamea directly to customers at markets, design events and shows. I've stood beside thousands of women while they tried something on, watched them move in it, heard what they loved and listened to what wasn't working for them.
I heard about changing bodies.
Travel.
Menopause.
Weight that moves up and down.
Waistbands that become uncomfortable halfway through the day.
Clothes that look good on a hanger but don't work in real life.
And the relief of finding something you can simply pull on and feel good in.
Those conversations changed the way I designed.
They taught me that the most useful clothes are often the ones you stop thinking about once you're wearing them.

Made here. Made with care.
Making clothes has always been a hands-on process for me.
For more than two and a half decades, Tamea garments were patterned, cut and made in Australia, and I worked closely with skilled people who understood the fabrics and the way I wanted the clothes to feel.
Being involved in that process shaped the way I design.
I think about how a fabric falls, where a garment needs to give, how it moves when you walk and sit, and whether it still feels good after you've been wearing it for hours.
That hands-on experience still sits behind the way I think about every Tamea piece.
Clothes that fit a life, not just a body
I've never been interested in creating clothes that only work for one occasion.
I love the pieces you reach for over and over again.
The pants you can travel in and still wear to dinner.
The dress you pull on when you don't want to plan an outfit.
The top that works with what you already own.
The jacket that changes the whole look without requiring a complete wardrobe change.
A scarf. A piece of jewellery. A layer added or removed.
Simple clothes leave room for the woman wearing them.
That's always been the plan.

Where Tamea is now
Today I'm bringing Tamea back to its simplest idea.
Useful clothes.
Flattering shapes.
Personal service.
And listening very carefully to women.
I'm starting with the Tamea pieces that already exist and paying attention to what women buy, what they come back for and what they ask me to make again.
Because after all these years, I still believe the best way forward is the same way Tamea began:
Listen to women and dress them with ease.
